How does this automation work?

Bardeen's playbook streamlines the process of gathering data by scraping Google search results for specific keywords and organizing them within Notion. Whether you're conducting market research, tracking SEO rankings, or compiling competitive analysis, this workflow automates the tedious task of manually searching and logging information. It's perfect for digital marketers, SEO specialists, and researchers looking for efficient data sourcing methods.

Here's how this workflow captures Google search results and stores them in Notion:

  • Step 1: Merge Keyword with Google Search - The workflow begins by taking your keyword and constructing the Google search URL. This step sets the stage for the data scraping process.
  • Step 2: Scrape Google Search Results - Using Bardeen's Scraper, the workflow runs in the background to extract Google search results. The Scraper is configured to use a specific template for Google search results, ensuring consistency in the data captured.
  • Step 3: Create Notion Database Entry - After the search results are scraped, Bardeen creates a new page in your specified Notion database. Each search result is neatly saved, allowing for easy access and organization.

Let’s set it up!

Step 1: Create a Notion database

The first step is to create a Notion database with the information you want to save.

Bardeen will open your search query based on the keywords that you enter and get information like title, description and link.

Step 2: Install the extension and set up Google data scraper

You will be redirected to install the browser extension when you run it for the first time. Bardeen will also prompt you to integrate Notion.

Click the “Pin it” button at the top of this page to get this automation saved to your Playbooks.

Activate Bardeen (or hit Option + B on Mac or ALT + B on PC on your keyboard) and click on the playbook card, and the setup flow will start.

You will be asked to enter your Notion database and specify the maximum number of Google Search results you would like to save to your Notion database. After you choose the database and maximum number of results to fetch, you will get a prompt to map the information to the fields in Notion.

The left side consists of all the fields Bardeen will scrape for you. On the right side, specify the fields in Notion that you want to associate with the information on the left. If you don’t want a piece of information, leave that field empty, and it will be skipped. That’s it!

Click on “Save Input” and checkmark Notion and the maximum number of results you want to get. This will save you time from setup in the future. You can edit Inputs later by hovering over the playbook.
