How does this automation work?
Bardeen's playbook for sending an SMS reminder before a meeting begins ensures punctuality and enhances meeting preparedness. This automation detects the upcoming event in your Google Calendar and sends an SMS with the meeting link exactly 5 minutes before the start time, providing a seamless way to remind participants and reduce the chances of late starts.
Here's how this workflow ensures you send timely SMS notifications for your upcoming meetings:
- Step 1: Identify the next event - Bardeen checks your calendar to identify the next upcoming event, ensuring you are alerted to the correct meeting.
- Step 2: Prepare the SMS content - A personalized message that includes the meeting link is prepared by merging predefined text with the link extracted from the Google Calendar event.
- Step 3: Merge text for SMS - The message crafted for the SMS is finalized, concatenating strings to ensure it includes all necessary details.
- Step 4: Extract meeting link - The unique link for the Google Calendar event is retrieved to be included in the SMS.
- Step 5: Send the SMS reminder - An SMS is sent to the intended recipient's phone number with the message and meeting link, ensuring they have easy access to join the meeting promptly.
How to run the workflow
Showing up on time for meetings makes you a good professional. However, when you may think you’ll remember the upcoming meeting, things often fall through the cracks. For example, you may be on your way to visit a client and not have access to the desktop or browser reminders.
That’s where this automation comes in!
It will send you a text message with the meeting link 5 minutes before the meeting starts, ensuring you never miss another meeting again.
You can also customize the automation to fire in 1 minute, 10 minutes, or whenever you prefer.
💪 Pro tip: You can also use our playbook Get a browser notification 1 min before the event to get a browser notification before your meeting.
