How does this automation work?
Bardeen simplifies your project management by connecting Github and Notion, two powerful tools for software development teams. This automation ensures that all your Github issues are instantly mirrored in your Notion workspace, creating a centralized and organized view of your project's tasks and progress. This can significantly save time, improve task visibility, and enhance team collaboration.
Here is how this workflow works:
- Find GitHub Issues: The first command searches for all issues within a specified GitHub repository. This repository is a user input that needs to be provided when you set up the workflow.
- Create Notion Page: The second command takes the data from the found GitHub issues and creates corresponding pages in a specified Notion database. This database is another user input that you need to provide during the setup.
Whether you are in product development or doing data sourcing and research, this playbook will help create a more seamless and efficient workflow for your team.
How to run the playbook
Switching from GitHub to Notion has become super easy. Just select the GitHub repository to get issues from and the Notion database to import the issues to.
This automation consists of two actions:
- Find GitHub issues
- Add page to Notion
Step 1: Set up a task database in Notion
First, you will need to set up a Notion database for your tasks. You can create one from scratch or duplicate our template optimized for this use case.
Step 2: Pin the playbook and set it up
Click the “Pin it” button at the top of this page to get this Playbook saved to your playbooks.
Then we need to map data from GitHub to Notion.
To do this, hover over the playbook card and click on “Open Playbook in Builder.”
From here, customize “Action 3: Add Notion page.” Enter your Notion database and map the data fields using “custom field mapping.”
Save the playbook and close the builder.
Step 3: Run the Playbook
Click on the Playbook card and watch the magic happen!
